Custom furniture: a practical sample approval and quality checklist

A custom furniture order needs a clear reference before production. A room rendering communicates an idea, but it does not specify every dimension, joint, finish or packing requirement. Use the following checklist to turn your design into an order that can be checked.

1. Define the approved product

Record the item reference, quantity, overall dimensions and intended room. Confirm material, finish, colour, hardware and any accessible connections. For fitted furniture, ask Zorinia to coordinate verification of site measurements, wall conditions and service clearances through personnel or local partners before drawings are approved. Keep the revision date on the approved drawing.

2. Agree the sample before production

Review colour and texture under the lighting expected in the room. Photographs and screens can change their appearance. Where a physical sample is needed, agree what will be supplied, its cost, shipping arrangements and approval method. Identify the approved sample so the factory and customer refer to the same material. A sample approval is not a blanket approval of every future substitution.

3. Set the inspection scope

Zorinia coordinates sample and specification confirmation with manufacturing partners. Pre-shipment checks cover products and packaging within the agreed scope. Record which dimensions, surfaces, fittings and quantities will be checked, what evidence is required and who can approve release. For a large or specialised order, discuss whether independent inspection is appropriate and agree its scope and cost before booking.

4. Review packing and local assembly

Confirm carton labels, item identification, protective packaging, hardware lists and assembly instructions. The local partner installation team arranged by Zorinia should know which pieces arrive assembled and which require assembly. Check access to the building, lift dimensions and handling arrangements separately from the factory inspection.

5. Record discrepancies before release

List the affected item, the observed difference, supporting photos and the agreed action. Keep a record of any recheck and written approval. Do not assume that a generic inspection photograph proves every item in the order was checked.

France and UAE projects follow the same underlying business process; the order defines the specific inspection, transport and installation responsibilities. Zorinia arranges local partner installation on a separate approved quotation, with drawings and support within the agreed scope.
